Varsity Revue Thoughts

My top 2 were KD Fiji and GPhi Beta. I think it’s going to be a toss up because these shows are so different. KD Fiji is super high energy and funny, GPhi Beta is a lot more moody and dark. If I were a judge, I think I’d like GPhi Beta more because the theme and choreo are so original. But if last night was any indication, the energy and volume that KD Fiji brings to the stage will also score really well with vocal and choreo judges.

My Top 3 has to be GPhi/Beta, KD/Fiji, Theta/SigEp. And I truly believe it could happen in any order. All have great vocals, choreo, and creativity to their shows. But I think each cast has something they could work on in their shows, and I believe it’s going to come down to who can fix these issues the best. A major surprise last night was Zeta/PhiDelt last night, they freaking blew me away, would love to see them sneak in, but we will have to see.

Top 3 for me is Gphi/Beta, Theta/SigEp, and KD/Fiji. However, none of them had everything for me.

I thought Gphi/Beta vocals were insane, however, I did become bored throughout and it seemed like the same show they came out with last year. Same moves, same vocals, same old typical Beta show. Not sure how their theme will hit with the judges. Last night, I saw a lot of little mistakes. They seemed very mid in my opinion. Honestly kind of a letdown. Vocals are their strong suit and besides that, I don't see them scoring well in choreo or theme.

Theta/Sig Ep surprised me. Was not expecting them to be as good as they were last night. The storyline is not as strong as other houses, but it was executed well. I would say they were the cleanest out of the three and super fun to watch. Great vocals and great choreo but not outstanding in any category. I also felt like the show started off strong then gradually got worse and lost energy. I think Theta/Sig Ep is either going to hit and pull it off or be completely lost with the rest of the shows. Again, very mid.

KD/Fiji was a show for sure. It lived up to the expectations I was told. The characters made the show!!!! My only complaint was the messy choreo and the confusing at times plot. I think they came out with a really unique choreo, however, when it's not clean, it doesn't matter how cool the choreo is. I feel like that is their biggest downfall. This would have been my winner last night because of the energy. Just hope they can keep it throughout the week...

Overall, I dont see any show sweeping all 3 categories. The competition this year is very tough and I have no clue how it is going to turn out.
