cant decide
by: GirlyI'm a larger girl about a size 16/18 and not real tall. I've always been really active and have always had a lot of friends. I'm not really an "awkward " person at all. Was a student body officer in high school and relatively "popular" I really want to go through rush and even know some women in sororities at other colleges. My sister is in one at another college. But I'm really nervous to register. Like everyone, rejection can hurt. If a sorority drops me because they don't like me, I can deal with that (I know that we don't all jive). But if people are going to drop me with out even getting to know me, or if I'm going to bring down the group in the eyes of fraternities, then I don't want to join. I'm really torn right now. I want to try, because a feel like I could really grow from the sorority experience, and I feel I have a lot to offer. But I don't want to set myself up for mean girl stuff. Any kind and compassionate suggestions would be wonderful.

I'm not guaranteeing you that that won't happen to you with some houses if you do decide to go through rush, however I truly believe if you really are as outgoing as you say you will go through and find a house that you truly love and enjoy. Rush is hard and stressful and it makes you question a lot about yourself but it is so incredibly worth it when you're running to your new home on bid day. I definitely recommend going to greek discovery day and getting some more insight into Greek life then deciding. OSU Greek life is great and if you go in with an open mind I'm sure you'll enjoy it.Hope we see you at recruitment!

Go for it! As long as you have confidence and a good attitude, you will be fine. Looks only go so far, houses also take into account grades, involvement, and overall personality. Going greek is a great way to get involved and opens many doors for you, you might regret it if you don't. Try greek discovery day to get a feel for everything, and remember that every house is good and has great girls. Most sorority girls are not the stereotypical snobs everyone makes them out to be, and understand what it's like going through rush unsure of yourself and which house you belong in! Definitely give it a try, it will be worth it! :)
