Sorority question about “grade requirement”

by:

Okay, so Greek discovery day was cancelled and I obviously can’t talk to my sorority friends about recruitment.. but on the website it says that the HS/College gpa “requirement” is whatever it says for that chapter, does that mean if you don’t meet the requirements for a house you’d get cut from recruitment ? I know lots of other factors go into it... but if it says HS gpa requirement 3.2 but you have a 3.0? Just a helpful question I thought I would ask :)

P.s don’t be mean...helpful answers only

Normally you’ll get cut if your GPA is below the houses cut off. Some houses are stricter than others. Also chi o, theta, and kd are normally the top 3 in grades so they are probably a little stricter than other chapters.

Some chapters have a hard grade cutoff and some are more flexible will allow “grade risks” if they provide a good reason for having grades slip. While many “grade risks” end up joining chapters (and doing just fine in school!) expect a significantly lower number of chapters to ask you back on the next day.

Keep in mind though if you just say “school just really isn’t my thing” that will send major red flags to a chapter because each chapter has a member GPA requirement and will kick out girls who don’t make that requirement for a certain number of semesters.

Please please please don’t stress. Yes chapters can cut you for grades mainly on the first round, but have a good attitude, school comes first and lots of chapters focus on academics and if they see that’s something you WANT to improve on I’m sure everything will be fine. If you’re too far below the grade cut off say below 2.75 I wouldn’t expect very many houses to ask back. Have an open mind and tell them what you’re looking for and what you want from a sisterhood we already know almost everything about you so stand out! We are just as nervous as you I promise!

Actually! You can talk to current members about recruitment this year :) Not sorority-specific questions, but about recruitment in general.. including GPA requirements and where to get that information! Don’t stress girly

Normally you get cut but there most houses have a certain number they can recruit who are grade exceptions. So if they really really want you and your grades are just a bit off, they can still recruit you. But I wouldn't count on it. Don't let this stress you. All the houses are good and all will give you the sorority experience, so go for what ever house is interested in you.
