Will I be able to get into a sorority with a 3.1 gpa?
by: futurepnmI am rushing in the fall and I’m stressing because I struggled with my ADD throughout highschool. My GPA is at a 3.1 (almost a 3.2) but i was also very involved in high school. Will I have a good chance at getting the house I want or will I be cut early in the rounds because of my gpa?

It looks like 3 chapters (AOII, AXiD, and Tri Delta) only have a 3.0 GPA requirement and the rest require at least a 3.2, but they may be able to actually round your GPA up if it’s close to 3.2, but I’m not 100% positive about that. You may be flagged as a “grade risk” in some chapters but there might be a way to communicate that you have ADD and that might help you out. Being super involved is a GREAT start! And if your GPA is only high enough for those 3 chapters, I personally have nothing bad to say about any of them and I’m sure you’ll find your place in one of them and they’d be lucky to have you! Don’t sweat it too much, I promise things will work out in the end how they’re meant to!

I figure I should add this: if you end up unhappy with where you are on bid day, you can absolutely take a year and go through recruitment again as a sophomore! Especially if you’re able to get your GPA up while in college! Most chapters lower their GPA requirement for college courses because they know it’s harder than high school, but it looks even better if you have a high GPA in college! Most chapters won’t look at sophomores any differently from the freshmen going through recruitment. Even waiting until spring semester of your freshman year and doing COB might be right for you!
