by: UhhhWhat is AOpi's reputation on campus? Are they really that bad or are they just in the bottom or rankings because they're new?

They're not helped by the fact they are new and don't have a house. They're pledge classes have improved each year. Their house by all accounts (I haven't seen pics) is supposed to be gorgeous and that won't hurt them. I've heard they are a warm and friendly group and have a strong sisterhood. That's a good thing. A strong greek life for all the chapters is a good thing.

Whenever you have a new chapter there is going to be a period of growth and change which may be awkward at times.
1. Their first group of girls was small. This group of girls may be upperclassmen or girls who never considered greek life before. A new chapter/a colony gives girls a different option just like COR does.
2. There may be girls who are completely new to greek life (no family history) so it is all greek to them. There are going to be mistakes made and that's why it's very important to have a strong national presence supporting you. AOII has a very strong national presence supporting them. They do not want them to fail.
3. There will not be in-house history, senior to junior to sophomore to freshman for a few more years. This is missed especially when talking about social interactions with other sororities and fraternities. They may step on other greek life toes but I doubt it is mean spirited or intentional.
4. If you're at a school where everybody has a house and you don't you are hampered. Drummond Hall is not one of the nicer dorms at OSU. There's a reason OSU is tearing it down. Having a shiny new house next year should help.
If you received a bid from this house (or any other), ignore the gossip, give your new sisters a chance and see what happens.
