rush/high school gpa

How bad is it to have a high school GPA below a 3.0 but still have been involved in multiple clubs/athletics as well as plenty of community service? I also have rec letters for most houses & am outgoing and easy to communicate with? Will I be dropped by all houses after the first round?

I was in the same boat when I went through a few years ago. I had a 2.9 and had a ton of community service and extracurriculars. After open round I was cut from all but 5 houses and then after house tour I was down to 1 (houses make grade cuts different rounds). I knew I didn’t belong in the house I had left so I dropped recruitment. I went through COB that fall and found the sisterhood for me :)

I’m not telling you this go scare you just to set your expectations reasonably. There’s the occasional story of a girl with below a 3.0 getting a bid to a house she really likes but that’s rare and because the house decided to fight for her. If you decide to go through recruitment like I did, I would do so with an open mind and low expectations. It’s a great way to get a feel for the houses. COB or recruitment next fall with a higher college GPA will probably give you a lot more options though.

It May be harder but if you have someone pulling for you it definitely can help you.

The houses that always get top 3 in grades (chi o, theta, & kd) will probably release you. They take grades seriously and it’s already so hard to get a bid to those chapters anyway. Every chapter has their own GPA cutoff for PNMs so you might have a difficult time.
