what are the legacy "benefits"?
by: legacyI wouldn't really say benefits, but it's the only word coming to mind right now to introduce this. In depth, I mean to ask a few specific questions: do/which houses require to ask back their legacies even if a first day went bad? How many days are they required to ask back? I'm sure this varies house to house, but I heard a rumor earlier today that legacy houses have to ask back these girls every day until Friday. This doesn't seem true, especially since that'd be very misleading to the poor girl who thinks she's being asked back genuinely then gets cut right then because the only reason they kept her was for being a legacy. With how ridiculous this might sound, there is probably some truth in some way to it. Right now, I am going through recruitment and might be being "kept" only because of my legacy, so I'd like to know what to expect/assume from this.

In my house we release legacies after the first day if they are a BIG grade or pr risk or if they are just completely unable to hold a conversation. Otherwise they stay. For ALL houses, if a legacy goes to her legacy house's pref night, she is automatically on the bid day list. So no, legacies don't automatically get invited back every day until pref, I'm sure you've heard this but being a legacy is not a "golden ticket" on to the bid day lawn. Hope this was helpful!

Legacy policy varies from sorority to sorority. Some have to invite you to the first invitational round after open house, others don't. Some place a high priority on pledging legacies, others don't. typically, if a chapter does not like a legacy they will release her early, no matter what the policy is, so she can find another home. If a chapter keeps you until pref, they see you as a potential sister. Most sororities would not invite someone to pref they don't want as a sister. If you are still there, you are probably very much wanted.

Not always. 2 years ago Chi o cut a 3 time legacy and who's family donated tens of thousands of dollars every year. Needless to say, when they cut her that money stopped.
