what are my chances??

by:

I am currently a freshman at a different university, but plan to transfer to OSU and rush next year. I went to my current school to pursue a sport at the college level and have realized its not all I thought it was cracked up to be. I really like Chi Omega and what they stand for. I believe that it could be a good fit for me. Do they take sophomores? I had straight As in hs and currently have all As. What do y'all think are my chances of getting a bid?

I really don't think you should narrow your options just to one house. You shouldn't base your opinion off what you've read on here. Until you meet the girls and see them for them and what they truly stand for, then you can determine if you feel like they're a good fit for you. Because you may go through recruitment and find out some other house was the home for you.

Literally no houses take sophomores except maybe Alpha Xi...lol and good luck with that

Actually, quite a few houses take sophomores so check your facts next time before saying something rude.

In all honesty some houses won't take sophomores but I can name at least 5 that do (and I don't know about a lot of them). I wouldn't recommend going into rush with a specific house in mind. There are so many great houses and every chapter has great things to offer. It's more about the group of girls in the house than it is about the actual house. You have to find the people you connect with. As far as grades go you seem like a perfect fit for chi-o since they have the highest average gpa on campus. I would just say to go into and be yourself and you'll find the house that's perfect for you.

the worst mistake you can make is to go through recruitment with a single house in mind. You might lose that house the first day and be too depressed to continue. Open your mind or don't do recruitment.

Do not get your hopes set on Chi O. They are one of the houses that doesn't take a sophomore unless she is an absolute 100% perfect fit. You would have to have a perfect GPA, really great on campus involvement with multiple organizations, the Chi O "look", and the personality they want. That being said, I KNOW there are houses that take sophomores because I rushed as a sophomore and had to choose between 3 on the last day. You can do it! But also don't expect to get into any "top" houses being a sophomore. The fact is, houses that take sophomores lose money, so if they did take you, you better be a great investment to their chapter

Congratulations on your strong grades!! That will help you during recruitment. I agree with one of the commenters who mentioned that chapters want a 4-year member. But, a sophomore has also shown ability to make top grades in her freshman year! She also is older and could be ready to take on a leadership role. Make sure you go to GDD and don't be open to only one house. Good Luck!

That's great that you have good grades make sure you are also involved in some clubs or activities.
All houses except maybe chi o take sophomores. Even Theta, Kappa, and Pi Phi do although it's usually rare and you either have to be in sports or be a legacy.
