as a sophomore will sororities be limited?
by: Rae
Hello, due to medical problems I wasn't able to rush my freshman year. I am really hoping to get into gamma phi delta because my step mom was there but I heard that they don't accept sophomores. I have a recommendation letter and good enough grades plus soem club envolvement. Is there anything I can do or will I be cut right from the start? Thank you

Are you thinking of Gamma Phi Beta? It really depends on the sorority. Most sororities do accept sophomores. I would recommend checking out all the other sororities before you pick one. They change about every five to ten years, so it may be completely different from what it was when your mom went there!

I don't want you to be disappointed so I feel like I need to tell you that sophomores have a little less success just because houses would generally rather have girls who have 4 years to give to the house. That doesn't mean you won't be able to pledge, but sophomores that are successful in getting a bid to the house they want usually know a lot of girls in the house and have some that are really strong friends. Also, just so you know, Gamma Phi Beta is a very popular house and a lot of girls are interested in that house. I'd advise you to keep an open mind. You may fit better somewhere else and you don't want to be dropped by other houses because everyone thinks you're going to go for your legacy house.
