1st round
by: JTHow many houses does the average person get cut from after the 1st round? I'm just trying to figure out what to expect for my daughter. I realize it is different for everyone.

It'll just depend on how personable she is and what her resume is like. If she's very personable with a great resume she will more than likely have a full schedule everyday. However, if her Gpa is low, not personable etc. she could only go to 4 or 5 houses on round 2 instead of the full 10. I think it says something about it in the recruitment book. Something like not many PNMs will have a full schedule everyday?

Responding to the original question--
Tell your daughter to expect that every round, 50% of the houses she visits will cut her. Maybe more.
The important thing is that on pref day, there's at least one chapter left that she would like to join. The others-- whether they liked her or didn't like her-- matter not at all.

First of all your child is an adult and it's time for you as a parent to let her experience college by herself. And please don't come to a gossip site as a parent to ask for advice.
Just wait and see how many she gets cut from. There is no average because everyone is a different person and the houses they get called back to are based on them as an individual.

There is no average pnm. Each girl has a different combo of assets and liabilities. Grades, reputation, looks, connections, recs, activities, community service, leadership, talents, etc. You never know what a house is looking for. Do they need singers and dancers? Do they need to bolster their gpa? etc. The fact that your daughter isn't high enough on the list to get an invitation to the next round doesn't mean they didn't like her. It just means she wasn't a fit for what they needed.

Sororities are putting together a well rounded team, not a little clique of girls. When they talk about being a good fit, it means that their house has a need and it's something that you can fill well. Plus that you are easy to get along with and seem to be a fun person to hang out with.

I wouldn't ask at all. Don't base any decision on a boyfriend's plans. This is your rush. Choose a house that you love and that you would enjoy being a part of. Your boyfriend may not even pledge Sig Ep and you all may not even being dating then.
