letters of recommendation
by: PNMHow important are letters of recommendation in each house? I have letters of rec for about half of the sorority chapters, but I'm having a super tough time finding the rest so I'm scared this will have a super negative impact on me.

Rec letters definitely help during recruitment, but if you go into a house and you don't have a rec letter, they're not going to automatically cut you just because you don't have one.
If you can find one for all of the houses--that's great! But on the other hand, if you're struggling to find a letter for every single house (which a lot of girls usually don't have anyways), it's not going to make or break you. Just be yourself during recruitment, and they're going to love you :)
Good luck!

I disagree. It's an easy way for a house to cut you without much investigation because they have lots of quality girls to invite back who do already have recs. Don't worry if you simply can't find one or two, but put in the effort to find them all. Surely your mom or grandma have friends who can put out the word. Ask other girls you know who wrote their rec for a hard to find house. As your favorite teacher that already wrote a rec for her house if she has any friends in your hard to find house. PUT IN THE EFFORT. It's not a good first impression to just assume the sorority will take care of everything for you.

My house takes Rec Letters seriously. It's an excellent way to find out if a girl is "do'er" and will participate with what will be required of her as a sorority woman. We can also look at here accomplishments and what people think of her.
If you have a hard time finding people to write you letters of recommendations, ask on FB, contact the Alumna association for the various sororities at OSU (they have FB pages also), or contact friend's mothers and friend's of friends. You are going to be surprised how many of them were sorority women (the best ones usually were ;) With so many other ladies going through Recruitment, you should send these letters so you can, "Impress them before you meet them".
#5 by: Try to get recs
To go off of what was said above, it does show us that either 1. You have strong Greek ties and thus you have your Rec done or 2. That you took care of business and registered with your local Panhellenic to get recs. If we're being honest– having no rec makes you an easy person to release and most houses require a Rec in order to offer you a bid- but if they like enough the sorority will find you a rec (that is extremely rare so don't count on that). Recs are not difficult to get so I suggest you post what remaining recs you need up on Facebook and I'm sure your community will be more than happy to help you. You'd be surprised how many of your friends moms were sorority women.
Good luck during recruitment!!! Go Greek! đŸ’•

If that's what you think, I can basically guess which houses you went to for pref. All the better houses require recs.
