quota
by: KappaWhat happened that made Kappa not make quota this year? I heard they missed it by five or six girls even after they extended snap bids. Why?????

As someone who knows--the names that were left off were legacies. As most houses do, legacies were voted on before pref night and are moved to the top of the list BUT they are not automatically put on the pref list you have to add them yourself. The girl who was in charge of this had never used the program before and wasn't aware of it as these names are not on the fina vote list which is what she used to submit the fina list. After the bid list was submitted, the rush advisor (who hadn't double checked the final list) found the error. Kappa chose to take fewer girls in hopes that Panhellenic would allow them to change their list to include those girls. They appealed their case up to the last minute but Panhellenic wouldnt change. Some of these girls chose not to accept their bids from other houses. (They were not aware of the mistake) and kappa was able to offer them a bid. Other girls did take accept their bid. And a couple of them (once they heard of the mistake) dropped their house and are going through this year. As a recent alum, I was not there but was made aware of it because one of the girls I had written a rec for.

It is exactly how the program works! I have been a recruitment chair at a different university and we use the same program. Legacies are voted on after hour tour. Once that is decided, you no longer have to vote on them but you do have to add them to your invite list just like any other girl. Which happened for pref night. However, as I said, the person inputting the final bid list only heard that "legacies go to the top of the bid list" and thought that was an automatic thing. She did not include them. I only learned of the problem when the legacy I wrote a rec for (and was at pref night) did not get a bid from kappa. She knew something was wrong because she had been told that she would be on the bid list. Her mom called me and that's when we learned of the mistake. My legacy accepted her bid to another house.
I will retract one portion of my statement above--you are correct that if you don't accept a bid you cannot accept another. I misspoke on that. I am not sure what happened to the other legacies but I know a few are going through again this year.
Whether you wish to believe me or not is up to you but please quit spreading rumors and inuendos about something you know nothing about! It was a horrible mistake and I assure you will not happen again.

Don't worry about being left off a list of your favorite house. You hear rumors like this every year but the truth is that the girls who say they were accidentally left off actually weren't high enough on the list to get a bid. I was the one in charge of turning in the list last year at my house and know that it's not possible to be left off accidentally. Probably what happened with Kappa is that they found out some of their legacies were not interested in Kappa and so they made this up. Or they put the girls first on the list but the girls matched with other houses. I really don't know and not one else does either. I just know that the whole "computer problems is why I didn't get the house I wanted" just isn't possible.

Who gives af if they made quota or not? They're still. Great house and whoever made this thread brought up issues from rush which was almost a year ago now. Kappa I'd and always has been a top house, and whether they made quota or not is nobodies concern unless they are a kappa (which I'm sure the majority of y'all commenting aren't) pan love to my kappa friends, love y'all! ❤️

As someone who has been involved with recruitment, I feel like I need to tell you that this is a good story but it's impossible. That's just not how the program works. I think they are covering up their problems and lying to their alums. This to me is worse than not making quota. It shows a lot of internal problems.
