This is false. I rushed as a sophomore with a 2.5 and got cut by almost every house after the first round. And it definitely wasn't my conversations because those were fine. Additionally, the booklets didn't list the GPA requirement for each house. I had to ask the girls myself at Meet the Greeks.

Honestly, the house that I ended up in wasn't my first choice or even my second choice. After the first round of recruitment, I'd say they were probably ranked 5th on my list. I liked them, but they were just ok to me and didn't really stand out as much as some of the other houses did (this was based purely on my interactions with them alone, not on this website). But as I kept going back, I felt more and more comfortable each time and by the end of the week, I knew I was home, right where I was meant to be. Now that I've been in it for 2 semesters, I couldn't imagine myself being anywhere else! Having limited options sucked at first, but looking back, I'm kind of glad because it allowed me to shift my energy into the houses that did invite me back instead of the others and I didn't have a hard time choosing which houses I liked more.

As for requirements, Chi O told me they almost always take girls with a 3.0 and above only, AXiD told me they required a 2.7, and DG and Pi Phi told me they require a 2.5. The other 4 houses I either forgot to ask or can't remember what they told me. I think Kappa's is pretty high up their. Nevertheless, anything above a 3.0 should be good. If you don't have a 3.0 but still meet the 2.5 requirement, you should rush anyway and just see how things go. You may end up where you belong!

Also, remember that GPA is only the tip of the iceberg for these houses. Make sure your conversation skills are up to par! I know a girl who rushed with a 4.0, but admittedly is not that great with conversation, and she got cut pretty heavily after round 1 too. Be pleasant to every girl that you meet and look your rusher in the eye. Have confidence and try not to worry about the GPA as much. It is what it is and you can't go back and change it, whereas with conversations, you can. A great GPA will get your foot in the door, but it won't prop the door wide open.
