transfering as a junior

by: bid as a transfer ?

I'm 21, and transferring in the fall. I'll be there for 3 years. I'm really preppy, wear way to much Lilly Pulitzer, and really want to be affiliated. How likely would it be for me to get a bid?

I just transferred in this Spring and I"m 21 as well. Just dress nice to rush and try to be real laid back when you talk to brothers of different fraternities. Try to find ones you can connect with and ones that remember who you are. Age doesn't matter that much if you'll be here for a while

I'm a girl though haha. Isn't it way different for sororities ?

I forgot to say I also got bids from multiple fraternities too and currently pledging one of them so you should be good. Good luck bro

Yall realize this is a girl.... If this were a guy wearing lilly he probably would not get a bid. But to answer your question: wow you sound sorority lol.

Affiliated usually means that you're already in a sorority at your current school and want to become a member of the chapter at the school you transfer to, just to clarify. =)

That being said, my pledge class had a few girls who were 21 year old juniors and in the past, we've even bid non-traditional (20-22 year old) freshmen. As long as you keep an open mind and don't act rude, you should be fine. The open mind thing is really important because to be honest, you'll probably end up in a lower tier sorority because the "top" houses prefer freshmen and sophomores. Some of the lower tier houses have great sisterhoods and they're known to take girls who are older. To maximize your chances, keep AOPi, Pi Phi, Sigma Kappa, and Chi O in mind. They take a good mix of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. =) hope that helps!

^^ Your whole post basically reads as an excuse to call Pi Phi, AOPi, Chi O and SK "lower tier." Wake up....all the houses are pretty much equal right now. Their really are no defined "tiers." 6/8 houses on campus are doing Spring Recruitment (and really it should be 7/8 since Phi keeps losing new members) and that says a lot about the fact that everyone is pretty much on par with one another.

To the original post: most of the houses will take a junior if you are pretty, have good grades, and are easy to talk to. There are 8 sororities here and 7 of them are generally "good" houses. You'll quickly figure out what the outlier is. If you dress in Lilly then you probably won't fit in at DG or Xi but would be totally fine at any of the others.

I wasn't saying that to "diss" those houses. I'm in one of those houses. My step-sister is in another. I actually think all of the houses are respectable and have something different to offer. I'm just saying that those houses are generally seen on here as "lower tier". Lower tier houses tend to be not as competitive during recruitment because girls come on here beforehand and decide that "lower" means bad. My sisters know what people say about us, but we don't really care because we love our sisterhood anyway and we want other girls to look past the tiers and like us, as well.

And the "top" houses generally don't take older girls. Most of the girls in my Rho Gamma group thought Phi was a top house and they hardly took any older girls. This isn't like Alabama where older girls stand virtually NO chance at all, but it's competitive enough that an open mind is key.
