So I kinda did horrible freshman GPA wise but i'm working on doing a lot better, even took the last semester off to get priorities straight. Is this going to seriously affect my chances of getting a bid in a sorority?

It depends on what you call horrible. This year for Fall formal recruitment you were not allowed to sign up if you had under a 2.5. If you have below a 2.5 you should continue to work on your grades and rush in the Fall again
