should i join a sorority?

I'm planning to go to WVU in the fall, and have been thinking about trying to get into a sorority. The reason being is that I am a pretty shy person and it takes me a little bit longer to make friends. (i have a small,close circle of friends in High school) I have been worried about college and making friends, and I heard joining a sorority is good because you kind of automatically have a few friends and form a close bond with them.
Also what is a good sorority to join? one where the girls aren't catty, they are accepting and not stuck up. I really want to overcome my shyness and expand my circle of friends, and have a lot of fun in college. Any tips? and also is it hard to make friends at wvu if you don't know anyone?
