gpa question
by: TransferSoph
Hello. I'm a sophomore transfer student who plans on rushing in the fall. I've always wanted to be a member of a sorority, but my old school is very small and greek life is not very big there. I'll be transferring in with a 2.5 GPA which isn't that great but that's because I was going through some very personal things during my first semester. I'm still very serious about my school work though and I plan on studying my butt off this semester to raise my GPA! Well, I was just wondering what the GPA requirements are for each sorority. I have a cousin that goes to WVU and is in a frat and he told me that Chi O and Pi Phi require a 2.0 and I think he said that KKG and DG require a 3.0.
I'm only curious about this because I know that with my GPA and being a sophomore transfer, I could get cut very heavily during the first few rounds of recruitment if I don't meet the GPA requirements. So I would just like to know so then I could decide whether to go through in the fall or if I should wait until my GPA is raised and go through in the spring or next fall.

Get.a.life. you will find out who you like and who you don't when you go through rush in the fall. Basing your decision on greek rank is so stupid.. a lot of it is girls self ranking and bashing on eachother.. seriously. Go find out during rush. It's a hGreat experience

Pi Phi, and Chi O require a 2.5,and I'm pretty sure most of the other sororities on campus have the same GPA requirement. However I would not base your opinion on this website. Go through recruitment with an open mind and see where you fit in best. This site is not a good representation of greek life here at WVU.

I'm in the same exact boat that you are. Transferring in with a 2.6 and I'm worried that I'll be considered a grade risk. I have a lot of volunteer experience though and I was very active in high school while maintaining a good GPA. The reason why I had poor grades is because I got sick in the middle of my spring semester and missed a lot of class because I ended up getting hospitalized for a few days. Add to that, the follow up appointments and it makes for a lot of missed information. I'm really hoping that I won't get dropped from recruitment. Even if just one sorority invites me back, I'll be happy. They all seem lovely.
