The problem will always be the fact that their nationals cares more about the balanced man program than they do about the brotherhood itself. Brotherhood is essentially what brings people to join fraternities and when you downplay that, you lose 90% of your chapter, which is exactly what happened.

As a member of the wrongly punished SigEp fraternity, I'm disappointed that there are still members of our Greek community who are unfamiliar with this program. The Balanced Man program is paving the way for fraternity life nationwide, and I am proud to have been able to experience it to its fullest potential. We have been raising the collective standard through the Balanced Man Program, re-imagining the fraternity house as a Residential Learning Center, developing freshman before they join through the Balanced Man Scholarship, serving remote regions of the world, and helping brothers defy employment trends that have plagued the early work years of the Millennial Generation.
We all must help each other if we are going to reach the summit.

In all honesty, if our ban on drinking was the sole reason a potential new member didn't want to join SigEp they likely wouldn't be a good fit for SigEp. Alcohol has become a central focus of fraternity life and we want to demonstrate clearly that SigEp's priorities lie with preparing our men to become confident, values based leaders.

And with that comment your pledge numbers will drop. Why even call yourselves a social fraternity at that point?
