should i rush a non recongned house?
by: CuriousSince alot of the houses are not recognized by the University should I rush a disaffiliated house underground and would I still have the same experience as a affliated house? What would be the pros and cons in being in a unrecognized house

I believe they will not be able to have registered socials and participate in university events like homecoming. Additionally, you will not be recognized by the nationals from that chapter so you won’t be truly a member. Should you Be elected president or vp, you won’t be able to go to conventions, you will not be recognized as a member by hq and your sons will not be considered legacy. If you are joining Greek life solely to party, I urge you to reconsider and just go to parties as a geed. Someone who doesn’t see the value in affiliation and why the university does what they do is not what Greek life needs right now.

You won't get a worthwhile experience from joining a fraternity if you join a dissociated house. All social events with the school and sororities will be barred for you and you will not have the connections that come with joining a fraternity because the national chapter may not recognize you. In the end it's your decision. But personally I would not if you want to get a meaningful Greek life experience

Im sorry but greek week and homecoming week is not a big deal. at all. People join greek life to make life long friends and for connections outside of college. Right now the school is treating members of greek life like kindergarten students with all of the regulations. Even though we are college students, most of us paying for our own schooling and dues for greek life, we still have to follow rules like we're in the public school system. Whether or not you choose to rush a recognized/unrecognized fraternity, you're still going to have a great experience. Only difference is that the unaffiliated fraternities don't have to follow BS guidelines mandated by the school.

sorority's will still have socials with frats not recognized by the school, some have already. The only frats worth rushing are the ones not recognized. They don't have to follow all the stupid little rules now and all of them are still recognized by their nationals so yes you will be officially a brother and yes if you are president or whatever you can put that on your resume. They only thing they can't do is be apart of homecoming and greek games which NOBODY cares about.

Socials with non-recognized frats do happen. Some sororities are nice like that as long as a good amount of people show up.

News Flash....NPC (National)forbids any member organization(s) to socialize with fraternities no longer recognized by the host university(s). It is in the NPC bylaws. I suggest you look it up.

Whoever wrote this probably works for the school. Sigma Chi and KA both have national recognition so you will still be a member. And sorority girls still come to our houses. Just ask TKE and Phi sig.
