hazing in sororities

by:

Does anyone know if any of the sororities haze their recruits?
I want to know which ones to avoid.

Most sororities at UD don't haze anyway, but that being said:

Hazing at a structured level is the only way people in a Greek organization are going to form a bond that a true brotherhood/sisterhood is known for over a period of only a few weeks.

How can I join a group of dozens of girls (or a dozen guys, take your pick) and get initiated with no real knowledge of that person or no mutual experience to build off of? If I don't even know everyone in my pledge classes name (unfortunately the case for many sorority girls) can I really call them my "sister" or "brother"?

Hazing in a responsible manner is built for a purpose. It is there to force a group of people who didn't know each other to unite against common obstacles and strive towards a common goal. This forges an actual bond. Realize that most universities define ANY compulsory activity that pledges must do together as hazing.

The lack of "hazing" in many Panhel organizations is why sorority sisters can walk by each other on the street and not even acknowledge each other.

There is a reason Greek organizations totally run by have college students have stayed thriving in many cases for over 100-150 years - the strong bond between members. Without that bond, you are in a social club, and a weak one. A strong pledge ship is a strong organization.

Many sororitys do not haze because many of us understand it's hard to trust and be "sisters" with someone who straight up abused you. That being said, pledges or new members may have to deal with clean up or just "errand" things or stuff like that but that's hardly hazing. Making someone do "blow or blow" isn't gonna make them closer.

if "hazing" is being forced to do things by older sisters, i can say with 100% certainty that none of these sororities haze

nothing really flies under the radar at UD, hazing is super frowned upon for girls here and everyone would know about it if it was really going on

no sororities really "haze" here. Each sorority just has certain traditions they uphold during the new member process. Nothing to be worried or concerned about! Everything is fun/funny especially because you will be doing it with your entire pledge class...

If you consider being "dry" hazing, yes a lot of sororites haze. Besides that, no there is no hazing here. And no, I'm not saying that's a good thing because without a pledge process, there is no comradery.
