fall rush?
by: SophomoreI just finished my freshman year and this past spring I thought I would give greek life a try. I actively rushed DTD, Theta Chi, and SigEp (I went to all 4 events for all fraternities), but was not extended a bid or callback to any of the three despite my direct legacy to SigEp. I was disappointed at first, but I started to think that maybe I rushed the wrong ones. I honestly did not utilize the "meet the greek" night at Perkins before rush and just chose to rush the fraternities based off of word of mouth. I am excited to rush again this fall because I would love to join greek life, but should I rush any of the same that I did in the spring? Do they typically extend more bids in the fall? Or should I choose all new fraternities to rush and what is an adequate amount to rush? Thanks!

That sucks, I know what it's like not to get into a fraternity you like. You gotta try other fraternities, don't go back to the same ones. Some guys don't rush well, it happens. Having been on the other side of rush, I can give you a few tips. (1) Don't be boastful (2) Don't act too comfortable 3) Don't let your mouth run (4) Be interested in the guys you're talking to, these are your potential brothers, ask things about them. (5) Probably shouldn't go to all four events. 2-3 events per fraternity. Don't stay the whole time. Guys act like girls during rush, if you're there too much, you're bound to say a few stupid things and the guys will overanalyze them... Just put your best foot forward and guys will appreciate you. Best of luck.
