joining a sorority
by: Sophomore Spring TransferI transferred this spring semester to UD as a sophomore. I missed sign ups for recruitment because I did not have a way of finding out before I got here. Would I get a bid if I rushed next year and I am planned to graduate in the year 2018 or should I just do informal?

Will you be considered a sophomore still? If so you have a pretty good chance at going through formal, a lot of sophomores do it and find their homes. As a transfer you have a little bit of leeway too.
If you're a junior at this time next spring, your options will be a little more limited sadly. Some chapters do cut for age or are harder on cuts for older girls when it comes to other factors, such as GPA. It's a harsh truth. I had two juniors in my rush group; one went to Theta, one went to Gamma Phi.
It really all depends on you; if a chapter sees enough that they like in you, they will extend you a bid! If you feel uneasy about formal rush or don't want to wait another year, I would contact the Greek office to see who is doing informal. Best of luck!
