bid day

What are some of the reasons that you would be dropped from your first choice after pref night? They make it feel like you're already in when you go so I am just curious!

pref round is basically a bid. You won't be dropped unless you yourself drop or you single pref and are low on that particular chapters list

If you single intention preffed you def screwed yourself out of having more of a chance of getting a bid from your top choice.

Why would single pref hurt you with your first choice? I am not doing it....but, I am curious.

Single preferencing your first choice only will hurt you if you are not high enough on that chapter's bid list. Let's say that sorority ABC has 150 PNMs come to their parties. After pref round, they need to rank each PNM 1 through 150. And for argument's sake the scores you got from voting put you at 150 which is last on the bid list. If quota is 100, and that chapter gets their top 100 choices, then #s 101 - 150 most likely will not get a bid from that chapter. And since you suicided that sorority, then you have no chance of getting a bid to any other group. That's how listing only 1 sorority can hurt you.

This is accurate but also you cannot become a quota addition if you single intentional pref. A QA is a pnm who otherwise would not have gotten a bid. Sororities a and b both had the PNM on their bid list, but further down (like the above poster said) but the sorority recruitment system will not let her go bidless. She will receive a bid from one of those groups. Now, what measure panhel uses to decide which chapter the pnm goes to is up for debate. Some say whoever had the PNM higher on their list gets her, others say it is whoever the pnm ranked higher. It all depends on quota and how the bid matching process goes.
So if you didn't maximize your options, you cannot be a quota addition. You'd have to be top on the sorority you want's list.

If you go to as many pref parties to which you are invited, you will get a bid. It is possible that you may not get a bid to your first choice, and your question seems to be asking if there is a chance of that. The reason you may not get your first choice is because other PNMs may rank higher than you do on the sorority's final bid list. Every PNM falls someplace on the list after voting, and if quota is filled before your name comes up, then you will be matched with your second choice (provided that you are high enough on their bid list). Everything will work out the way it was meant to be, and for that small percentage of PNMs who get their second choice, you WILL end up happy. Every sorority at UD has amazing girls in it, and you will become close with your pledge class. Good luck!

Guys, she was asking the chances if getting dropped from her to choice, not on general. If she's not high enough of her top choices list, she won't be in their pledge class.

What if you put yourself out to many interviews and as the weeks went by you are dropped yet still had 4 that I would have loved to be a part of and 2 I just didn't feel a connection. Last weekend I am down to 3 that are my preference and 1 again I feel is not a good connection. I get a call not to come to AM session on Saturday so I figure I got dropped but still hopeful I have my preference, then Sunday find out dropped by my final preference and I drop out because I just didn't feel connection to final one. I'm embarassed. feel like something wrong with me and all I wanted was to be apart of what everyone talks about the sorority life at UDEL. My friends still have 2-3 preference and I didn't get any what did I do wrong? I believed my conversations went well so confused.

Im sorry I am having a little trouble following your situation.
But from what I can gather from it, you wanted "to be apart of what everyone talks about the sorority life at UDEL" and you then say you didnt get any sororities left, but you said you had 1 and you dropped out? So you still had the chance to be a part of a sorority at UD, with that one sorority you didn't feel a connection with. If you're wondering what you did wrong as to not have any sororities left, you dropped out. you took yourself out of the process.
