is their a need for more sororities?

by: LG

With over 1300 PMN's for just 11 sororities. Do you think their is a need for another sorority or two?

Yes. Delaware is becoming a much more popular school in just the past few years and greek life is becoming more and more popular. Atleast 2 more sororities should be added.

The Panhellenic council should really consider this suggestion based on the numbers. With such a huge freshman class this year it was inevitable there would be problems. There were problems with freshman housing which was an absolute joke, now you are getting the trickle down effect. If UD handles the admission numbers the way they did this year there will be major pains.

Totally agree. The classes are getting so huge there is no way you even get to know your own sisters. It's kinda sad.

guess what, my freshman year there were problems with housing too. read the post on here about how sororities cut girls and understand that the sorority recruitment system actually works out so that no one will go bidless. It makes sense you're just upset you didn't get what you wanted today.

Shut up.
you are probably a pnm that didn't get what they wanted today.
Did you still have perfectly good options? At least one? my guess is yes.
we don't need new sororities we need delusional girls like you to realize that just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean the system is broken.

The day we need more sororities is when ALL chapters doing recruitment make quota and numbers. The little guys will continue to struggle if more chapters are added. It's not fair especially if the only reasoning is because girls don't get into ones they want; we already saw what happened with Phi Sig.

Yes. We don't need more sororities because girls are electing to drop out of rush. If everyone was staying all the way through rush, and everyone made quota and pledge classed were like 100 girls, yes I could see us bringing another chapter on. But the problem is 1300 girls sign up for rush, like 35% drop out, maybe less than 5 % get cut all together and usually because they have a bad reputation already or have like a 2.5 gpa. you can't have a new sorority come on because a bunch of girls were pissy and Imature and didnt like their remaining sororities. They could have had a bid, but the dropped out. If girls were somehow going bidless, then fine. Add chapters. but anyone who elected to drop out todayou still had the chance to be in a sorority. that is a fact.

Phi Sig signed a contract so that no chapter can come on campus within 3 years of them coming on. Then a new chapter will join, just like gphi and ADPI were once new

Yeah, new chapters have to wait a certain time period before colonizing. Part of the reason DG and Theta struggle so much is because neither really had a chance to get a good foundation since Theta came literally a year after DG. Hence, they make people wait so other sororities can get a good foothold.

Basically, any PNMs who dropped - I wouldn't pin your hopes and dreams to a new chapter being added. If one does get added, it won't be until you're juniors probably. Sorry.

They say everyone gets a bid of they stick through it if you give them a chance. But they also say this process is mutual, but why would you just settle for a sorority if you don't feel it's right for you. It's more likely you'll eventually disaffiliate so why would you settle?

Just telling how it is. I'm sick and tired of these PNMs who cry that they got rejected and that sororities are mean and superficial when they are the ones sticking their noses in the air at the thought of "settling" for a different sorority.
