philanthropy round

by: Rushee

Do all the girls you've talked to so far decide if you get invited back to philanthropy round or just the girls you talked to in skit round?

All of this is a secret and shouldn't be known to pnms so don't worry about it

We put your name in the sorting hat and go from there.

I know you can't explain what's going on. I would assume that whomever you spoke to during each round is the real decision maker about who gets asked back.

All i will say is that when it comes to extending girls bids, that is a matter the entire chapter is involved with. Kind of like a political election, candidates want people in their corner to vouch for them and make other people want to elect them to office. Does that make any sense?? Sorry. No matter what make sure you are respectful to each and every person you meet in every chapter you go into. Always.

Yeah sorry we have to be so vague, but membership selection is private and also different for each chapter. So if someone told you what it was for a fact in Chi O, ADPi would probably be doing something different.
Don't worry about it. You can't change anything now, just wait this week out and do not worry about how the process works, just trust it! This system works and allows for the most girls to wind up with Bids come bid day.

Yes waiting sucks but we all went through it and survived. It's a really exciting yet stressful time. Just put faith in the process, get through your classes and I promise on next Monday you will have the best day of your life

I know each sorority starts by seeing all 1300 and ends with around 70 PMN's. I was curious which round does the most cutting down of numbers? I would think between the open and sisterhood. I figure it's always different. But, wondering if one round was where the most cuts come from.

They try to do it proportionally for each round. Panhellenic council and the Greek life office AND each sorority's advisors come up with a number of PNMs that must be released from a chapters invite list each round. The numbers are usually the same or close for all the chapters. They come up with it as recruitment is going on so it is always fresh and relevant. They cannot invite more than That number. They really try to keep it proportionate each round, but like I said before the second weekend always feels the worst for PNMs no matter what.
At this point you've met 11 sororities, had 8 left maybe Sunday and Friday, you will be able to only see 5 maximum. That means even if you had 6 favorites, you could not be invited to any of your original 6 favorites. You think you're being open minded and going in positive, but you're still disappointed because now the 5 (or probably less!) that you haven't been imagining yourself in all week are All you have left.
This is exactly what happened to me! Had 5 for skit round (I said somewhere else tht I had 4 but i forgot about one :) see how little the number of sororities that invites you back matters in the long run? Lol) but I was so open minded, 3 of those 5 were the ones I was daydreaming of being a part of! Those are good odds right? Then I got my list and I had the 2 I was not fantasizing about being a part of. Ouch! But it didn't matter, because I bucked up, and went into philanthropy round and fell in love with my chapter.

the pledge classes are said to be larger this year because of the number of girls who rushed. I heard most can take up to 100 for their pledge classes but chi omega wants to keep theirs at around 70

Oh no the rumor mill has begun. Everyone has to take quota. if you do not take quota and then have to do informal recruitment and keep looking for new members during the spring and fall. So if quota does end up being 100, not meeting quota on purpose is not something panhel or any chapters advisors would let them do. Yes while it is true, a lot of girls have stuck it out this year (more than usual, yay!) wait until this weekend. Between Friday and Saturday so many PNMs usually drop. But hey, I hope I'm wrong! I'd love for no one to drop out of rush on their own. But it happens.
