sorority cuts

by:

Just wondering how many girls get cut from sorority rush? Like an average number of girls without bids.

1345 PNMs this year, does that mean 120 new members for each chapter? Because that is insane.

It's means girls are either dropping, pledge classes can have like 90, or girls will actually get cut completely this year.

people say that every year. remember when we had 1200 signed up for rush back we we had 10 sororities?
girl drop out because they dont get what they want. dont let anyone scare you into thinking that NOBODY will want you.

If you stay with recruitment you will get a bid (most likely)

yes. but it might not be their fav or "where they see themselves fitting in" (ha!). hence why even when we had less sororities and close to the same amount of girls rushing, pledge classes were still 60-70, 40% of the PNMs drop out because they're not joining who they want to join, and that's fine with me. just don't blame the system or the fact there theres more girls rushing every year.

So.. what about the ones that only got like 1-2 callbacks after the open house round? will we even make it to the pref round?

Don't be discouraged! I was down to 2 by philanthropy and I still wound up in a chapter I love! You'll be fine as long as you stick with it!

I keep saying it but it is true, you get ONE bid. That's it. How many you have left now does not matter. I've seen girls have 7 or 8 for skit and have 2 for philanthropy. How many you have is no indication of your performance in recruitment.
Whoever keeps inviting you back deserves your focus not whoever didn't invite you back. How can you be yourself and sell yourself at the same time? The chapter is inviting you back, they see something in you, what is it that you have to offer them?
I hope you don't stress too much this week. keep your head up! And remember, it only takes one!

I am curious if most of the main cuts take place between open house and skit...or skit and philanthropy?

It honestly depends on the chapter. Some of the chapters only really cut on grades between open house and skit and then use votes for the cut from skit to philanthropy. Others do a combination of both for both rounds

Here is the thing about the cuts between the first and second weekend, no matter what, the invites are winding down. Girls will feel like the cuts are harsher because now instead of visiting 11 chapters like round one, you have 5 or less (usually less). That feels harsh no matter what. And especially if no one is getting their favorites back, that can hurt. A lot of girls drop before/after the first night of philanthropy. The emotions and feelings are just heightened so it just FEELS like harsher cuts.

Bumping for girls who were wondering about snap bids and quota additions. The one tHong I will say about quota additions is here one person said the QA goes to the smaller chapter and someone else said it goes to the PNMs preference, but those are both wrong. The QA goes to whichever sorority had the PNM higher on their list.
Other than that the initial postings about pref and what not are very very accurate! You make it to pref, you maximize your options, you get a bid from SOMEONE.
