middle-bottom sororities

by:

So I am going through Rush and I went to all the open houses. I realized I don't feel comfortable around girls in sig k and chio and other top tiers (they seemed nice I just don't think they are the places for me). I really liked the girls from the adpi-aephi-theta-phi sig group. What separates each from another? Who does each mix with? What are the pros & cons to each? I just want to know a true opinion before I go through recruitment.

There is no major difference between them except personal preference. Seriously. Everyone is literally the same. There is a "cool" sorority cluster and a regular well rounded sorority cluster.
APhi, AZD, ChiO, Gphi, SK (GPhi, people will argue, but no matter how fake they have gotten, the got where they wanted to go)
ADPI, AEPhi, ASA, DG, Phi Sig, Theta
There's just 2 clumps. That's it. That's where the major difference is for sororities. Other than that, it's all about personality and where you belong. Honestly, more Jappy girls go to AEPhi generally, and yeah quirky girls go to DG, doesn't mean DG doesn't have JAPs and AEPhi doesn't have a few quirky girls (which isn't a bad thing!!)
Look at all 11 sororities during recruitment and ask the sisters themselves what THEY think makes them different from the other chapters. You can list pros and cons all day long but sorority recruitment isn't like picking a major or something. It's really finding a sense of belonging and acceptance somewhere which you can't quantify in a list.

I remember feeling the same way going into recruitment! For me, I was always on the cusp of being popular in high school, but never truly felt like I fit in with the "cool" kids, even though they accepted me. I just felt more comfortable around my other friends, I was pretty much faced with the same dilemma in recruitment. My pref round I had one "cool" sorority and another "bottom" sorority. And ya know what? I LOVED that lower tier sororities pref round and hated the better sororities. I took the leap and joined the lower tier, and it probably made my college experience as great as it has been. I probably would have disaffiliated from that other chapter by now.

Anyway, done preaching. Here is my opinion, I'm not going to include stuff about frats they mix with because it's all basically the same and not the point of joining a sisterhood, you'll see your sisters way more than frat boys.

You really hit the nail on the head. Especially with theta. These are all basically the same types of girls but really just have the tiny differences that you laid out. Although with phi sig, I know their founding sisters had some issues but I honestly think that their latest pledge class was pretty great overall, giving them a nice group of younger girls.

To anyone going through recruitment that doesn't feel like you necessarily fit in with the SK/AZD/Aphi/chio type, do not overlook adpi/aephi/theta/phisig!!! There's a reason that there are 11 sororities, there's a place for everyone! If you're worried about the social aspect, well I can tell you they all have mixers and they all go out. But at the same time there are the girls in every sorority who tend to stay in, so there's no pressure. Just see who you click with in recruitment and keep an open mind!

You're not going to find a true opinion on here I promise you that, go in with an open mind and you'll find where you're most comfortable!
