To be honest, you will get cut from a lot of houses with a 2.56. The minimum to rush may be a 2.5 but most sororities require you to have at least a 2.6 to be asked back to their second round. Finals can really make or break your grade here so if you really don't want a 2.56 I would start studying ASAP. And if that doesn't work, I would try to stay for winter session and try to boost your GPA up before rush. Good luck!

I might think about waiting till sophomore year to rush. A lot of houses will drop you with a GPA like that.

So why make a required gpa to rush if no houses will take me then..? i think that is just stupid on the schools part. They should raise the required gpa to what the sororities want then... i don't think the school should say 2.5 if that won't get you anywhere.

because that will just raise the gpa even higher... no one wants to be a bare minimum. if the min gpa is 2.6, then most sororities will want 2.7. if the min gpa is 3.0, most sororities will want 3.1

A lot of times it's a chapter's nationals/headquarters that sets the standard for the GPAs of new members and sisters. Say a chapter has a 2.8 cutoff before you're on academic probation: they're not going to want to take you if you have a 2.5 because you will run the risk of being on probation after you join.
At the same time, UD has to have a minimum GPA requirement that is set at the lowest that a UD chapter will take girls. I know the system sucks but it does make sense.

A 2.5 will get you into some houses and not others. All sororities have different values and different expectations of their members some sororities require higher GPAs than others that just how it is. Each sorority is unique. If you chose to rush you'll find the one that fits you best, if you're GPA is too low for a particular house you don't belong in that house.

If you want to know how far your GPA will get you, check the cap scores for sorority GPA's. The ones with higher averages normally have higher GPA cutoffs for their members.

if they're between you and a girl with a better gpa, they'll take her almost at any house. think about it
