Yes!
I joined as a soph, my big happened to be a junior. Other girls get bigs who are also sophs like them.
The big/little relationship is different for everyone. Some it’s almost like that mentor like relationship like a traditional big sister and others it’s like your bff or some people it’s pretty casual and not intense. Your age when you join doesn’t matter.
