is it worth it to rush as a sophomore spring?

by: terio

I was thinking of rushing but im already a sophomore and its the spring semester. I am also going abroad for half the year next year, when I get back im old enough to go to the bars. I was just curious what opinions people would have about my current situation

Honestly depends on what you’re looking for. Sororities are more than mixers and parties, so the 21 argument is kind of a moot point I unless that’s really the only reason you have for wanting to join one.
There’s always fall informal rush, based on the CAP report that came out quite a few groups did it although some might’ve been invite only and not an open informal rush.
Juniors do participate in spring formal recruitment sometimes but definitely have their option limited. Think about WHY you want to join a sorority and that may help you with your answer.

Yes. Even if you don’t end up pledging, if a small part of wants to try rushing, definitely go for it. That way it’ll never be a “what-if” for you. And if you do get in and decide to pledge and finish, your other worries don’t seem bad. You may leave for a semester but you’ll still have 3 semesters in the fraternity (more if you include winter session). You’ll also always have a bar squad to roll with. Also, you can do parties and bars if ya ever feel like changing it up.
