gpa requirements
by: idiotobviously you just need like 2.5 to rush, but i have 2.7, is it still worth it or am i just gonna get dropped? i’m a sophomore so if i don’t do it this year i’ll probably never do it

Sororities usually each have a higher GPA requirement than the panhel one. Sometimes it’s a national requirement sometimes it’s just that local chapters. Some chapters use that gpa as a hard cut (like my chapter cuts anyone below a 3.0) others it’s just a general guide/rule not an absolute. Girls with 2.7s get bids but not always. It’s worth a shot. Just keep an open mind. Also what it’s worth I have also seen juniors get bids....

I rushed as a sophomore last year with a 2.7 and only had 4 houses back after open house (Pi Phi, Theta, DG, Aephi). It obviously could be other factors, and I’m sure some would’ve dropped me anyway, but I do believe I was dropped because of my gpa, at least for a few houses. There were a few houses who I’ve heard had higher gpa’s that I really believe I would have been asked back to if I had a 3.0+. I really think it’s important to rush, especially because it’s really your last chance. I think being in a sorority is amazing if you find the right one. It didn’t really work out for me, but who knows if it was my gpa. There are some top sororities that take low gpa’s, so it really just depends on the person. The biggest piece of advice I have is to rush and give it your all, but realize that getting dropped by houses is a real possibility. BTW rushing as a sophomore isn’t a big deal because my roommates all rushed with 3.0+ gpa’s and they all got back sororities that dropped me.
