Rush: First you pay $95 for two weekends of hell. They say its for buses, shirts, and food, but the only thing they give you is granola bars, buses that dont fill up or wait for everyone, and tshirts that were literally used from last year. Then they tell you to keep an open mind and "trust the process". No matter how many times you drop a chapter, they will show up on your list over and over again until you drop. This is not a REALLY mutual process. It a chapter doesn't like you, tough luck, youre not going back. THEN, if you're lucky enough to make it to pref, your rho gammas tell you to get dressed up and look your best. Not only to find out AFTER spending 2 hours getting ready, you get dropped from the sororities you thought you did great at. There's the walk of shame back to your dorm (if you havent already dropped from the day before). From personal experience, I went back to the same chapter for all the rounds, had great conversations, yet ended with 1 sorority I dropped every round. WHY? Because even though the only thing you do is talk to these girls, your conversations mean almost nothing. These girls judge you on your looks, how smart you are, and how you present yourself. By the end of the week, every "top tier" had lines of only the best looking girls. In all, if your thinking about rushing, make sure your GPA is above a 3.0 (Even though they say 2.5 is the minimum) and dont get your hopes up, for anything. :)

the whole process is pathetic, don't worry about it girl. you'll find your people! look into different clubs and stuff that you're interested in, you'll meet people like you with the same values/interests!

Well we know what all the bitter betties were up to last night.
Ladies ladies ladies. Here are some helpful tips: first of all, no one said you had to go through rush. No one forced you to participate, pay the $95, etc. the money is to pay for the rooms where rush is hosted, the buses (which are actuallly a new system because ur community keeps GROWING and adding more chapters), and yeah t shirts. Back when I rushed they didn’t even give us a granola bar it was run to the POD and hope they had any food left for you to try and buy so sorry they actually tried to give you something to snack on.
Second, YOU DO NOT DROP CHAPTERs. You rate them as the chapter you’d least want to return to next round if you had gotten a full schedule back, which yeah no obyou ever does. Guess what, yeah if a chapter doesn’t invite you back that is tough luck. That’s life, not everyone is going to like you and it may not even be fair. Yeah, some of the chapters are probably being shallow in who they are picking. Do not join that chapter then! Or thank god you were cut from them because do you really want to be in a chapter that only focuses on looks then? Doesn’t sound like it to me. But also from the way you’re acting hey maybe you’d fit right in if you’re concerned with lines of “pretty” girls for those chapters, were the ones in line for the chapter you had left not pretty? Was that concerning to you?? You seem just as shallow as those chapters you were giving crap to guess that’s why you really wanted to be a part of them??
Third, you get dressed up for pref because you are getting let into a piece of our ritual, which is actually important to us and should be to you as we potentially invite you into our sisterhood. Sorry it was such a burden on you! We dress up for chapter meetings every week too so good thing it sounds like you dropped out.
And lastly, that one chapter iviting you back to pref? Guess what your coversations actually probably MEANT something with them. THATS WHY THEY INVITED YOU BACK. Also, how you present yourself and your grades are pretty important IN LIFE. You’ll be judged at job interviews, professional presentations, grad school on those SAME THINGS.
I realize you’re all young and got your hopes up and focused on the wrong things during rush but if I may quote miss Tyra Banks, “I have never in my life yelled at a girl like this! When my mother yells like this it's because she loves me. I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you! How dare you! Learn something from this!“
Seriously though, i was a Rho gamma and am a senior now, and I hope you find what you’re looking for because this obviously is t it. You can try tridelt, new sorority. But you know, they also judge you on things like how you present yourself, your GPA, and activities sooo....

“I just didn’t see myself in”/“didn’t connect with” is code for I don’t like this chapter/I am way too good to be in this chapter. If the chapter you’re talking about isn’t Theta or DG I will be shocked. Absolutely terrible and snobby way to think. You’re basically treating those sororities the way you THINK you have been treated by the ones you wanted to be a part of. You DID NOT trust to process. You QUIT because you did not get what you wanted.
From what t sounds like though you saved the sorority you had left a load of trouble. Glad my chapter cut you too!!

You are correct about the gpa. Unless you are above a 3.0 you will be knocked off most sorority lists in the first round of cuts. If you last after that cut, you need to really shine because you are competing with a lot of pretty and or smart confident girls. However, I do think that you need to focus on where is best for you and not get hung up on “tiers”. All it determines is who you partner/socialize with. Otherwise, that term means absolutely nothing. I’m curious why you didn’t like the house you got? Were you basing it on it’s tier? When I was pledging last year, I was surprised to see that some of the so called lower tiers dropped me because in my own mind I thought I was better than them and they would be lucky to have me. It made me realize looking back that those girls were being true to themselves and weren’t interested because I would not fit in and looking back now I can really appreciate that and the process. I ended up in a sorority I hadn’t thought about initially and almost dropped out but I’m so glad I didn’t because just like you said- you can’t be judged on a 15 min conversation, it works both ways and I ended up really happy.

I'm confused....you're mad at the top tier sororities for only inviting back good looking girls...but you're also mad at the lower tiers that invited you back because of your personality.

Conclusion: You're salty that top tiers didn't validate that you're as hot as you think you are and you rushed for the wrong reasons. Mature a little and rush next year...or don't...greek life doesn't need your attitude.
