rushing a second time?

by:

Has anybody gone through sorority rush twice? If so could you tell me what happened, if more sororities dropped you throughout rounds than the first time, if you got basically the same results, where you ended up in relation to the first time (like you got a sorority that dropped you before pref)

I’ve had friends who went through a 2nd time and got dropped by all the same groups she got dropped from last time. I also had friends who rushed a 2nd time and got drastically different results. It’s a complete toss up. And it largely depends on you as a person. Like, how did you change/grow in the last year? Are you more outgoing and sure of yourself now? Did you join some clubs/change majors and really find your passion? Are you just going to wing it and see what happens?? All are fine!! You never know maybe you have grown and just didn’t notice 😊

when you say "dropped by all the same groups she got dropped from last time" do you mean she got the same bid?

Yes. She also accepted the bid this time I might add. There’s also girls who had the same houses dropping them and inviting them back the second round who drop out of rush all together.

I rushed a second time and the second time went so much better and differently than the first time. The biggest change I made was going into it with an open mind and just being okay with whoever chose me to come back, which worked out in my favor, and what I should’ve done the first time. If you’re rushing a second time you probably have friends in all the sororities so you should know that each and every one is a good choice!

I rushed twice, I was a transfer and unsure if I really wanted to join a sorority/didn't feel comfortable in the chapter I got a bid from freshman year. Sophomore year second time around I got completely different chapters back during most rounds of recruitment that may have "dropped" me the first time and ended up with two different chapters in pref and accepted a bid from one. Although I don't think that's the norm unless something changes drastically like you raise your GPA a lot or get more involved on campus/have leadership positions. Chances are you will have similar results give or take a few chapters but I don't think getting the same bid twice happens very often. I'm SO glad I rushed twice because I really don't think I would've been happy in the chapter I got my first bid from, and I love my chapter now, going Greek at UD is a good decision and every chapter is uniquely great!

Did you personally do anything to "improve" and get different chapters? My gpa is about the same but I'm in more clubs this year

You don’t need to “change” per say. It’s just a matter of growing up. I don’t mean to say that everyone is super immature, but the difference between a freshman and a sophomore can be huge. Or you can be the same. No one can really tell you necessarily what “changed” about them. Being more involved in clubs and having that to talk about will definitely help I think. As far as anything else, seriously just be yourself. And you end up where you belong.
