gpa
by: spring rush
I read some of the other posts talking about GPA, and how a 2.5 is required but some sororities want higher. I have 2.58, will that really effect my rushing and chance of getting a bid?
I really want to rush and get into a chapter that I fit in with, but if this gpa hurts my odds is it better to just wait and rush next year when I have a better gpa?

Unfortunately yes that definitely will hurt your chances of getting in to most chapters. A lot have minimums of 3.0 or above, especially the more academically strong chapters. You want to be able to maximize your options in recruitment, so I think maybe waiting until next year and studying hard to raise your GPA would be a better option. Most chapters would drop you first round just based on your GPA, regardless of how much they like you
Luckily it's really common here to rush as a sophomore so you shouldn't have any problem if that's what you choose to do

Unfortunately most chapters will drop you right away if you don’t have at LEAST a 2.75. It’s honestly for your own good though because being in a sorority is pretty time consuming and if you’re struggling academically without being in a sorority it will probably be even harder in a sorority. Work hard and get your gpa up and then try again next year :) maybe you could do winter session to help too? But I’m not sure if that counts.

I know it says winter session grades don't count to help reach the 2.5 minimum required to rush so I'm guessing they don't factor in for recruitment at all
