my best friends were a part of SK before disaffiliating. their reasons for leaving were that the sorority was becoming less genuine and they felt disconnected. they claim that the new leadership put so much emphasis on keeping up their image. for example, their sisterhood retreat was supposed to connect everyone through bonding and reflection, but the girls were required to bring multiple outfits for the various photo op's (sitting on the doc, sitting around the bonfire.. etc) and they felt that the whole retreat felt like a photoshoot instead of a bonding and fun experience. just one perspective, though
