joining a sorority: yes or no?
by: FedededeIn a month, I'll be a freshman at UDel. Being an international student, the only things that I actually know about Sororities are the ones I learned from the movies. I'm really outgoing, I like making new friends and being active, but I don't know if I'll have time to adjust to living in a different continent and being part of a Sorority. Online, I found out that joining a Sorority during your sophomore year is considered weird and usually there are not many spots reserved for upperclassmen. What should I do? Also, does rushing happen during the first weeks of school?

Tons of sophomores join sororities at UD! It's not as weird as people make it seem online. At some more "competitive" sorority rush schools, it nmight not be normal, but basically at UD if you can be yourself and talk to new people, have a decent GPA, and have an open mind about what sorority you want to join/will extend you a bid, you will most likely be accepted into one of our chapters here.

Like the other commenter said, recruitment isn't until spring. I have several sisters that are international students and they love the experience! That being said, if you don't join one this year, PLENTY sophomores go through recruitment-- it's not strange at all!!
Best of lcuk :)
