military veteran joining a fraternity

by: Ryan001

Hi I am going to UD in the fall and have thought about rushing a fraternity there. I served 4 years in the Marines and now am out. A couple of questions: I am slightly older than most of the people their will that affect me? How are my chances of getting a bid? Do they view vets in a positive light? Thank you

Vets are always viewed in a positive light. Nothing but respect to you for that. Honestly I have never seen this kind of situation before but I don't think you'll have any issue. It may be a little weird with you being a little older but if you're cool, there shouldn't be any issues.

how old are you exactly? I think you may still have a chance with a few frats here, and yes you'll most likely be looked at in a positive light for being a veteran.

don't take this the wrong way, but if you're gonna rush you should consider rushing the "lower tier" frats, i think they'd be more likely to take an older dude tbh. do you have any friends who attended UD that were in frats? that could help to if you know a past brother.

No lol I am brand new to UD. Who are the upper tiers and lower tiers at UD? Would my age really be that much of a factor? I am a cool dude.

out of all the frats here, you will get a bid somewhere. look at the tiers on the general discussion page. Aim for the middle tier. rush 4 or 5 and youll get a bid somewhere.
