Greek life at UD is amazing, everyone coming into the school should highly consider rushing! You meet so many people this way and there are so many opportunities for you within the chapters. Socially, for girls you can still party without being in Greek life. For guys, it’s a lot harder to go out if you’re not a part of a fraternity

Terrible climate from the school. Only 2 fraternities left have chapter houses.

The University has a tie around greek life. The school is over bearing and it causes fraternities great difficulty. Many fraternities have been removed from over 16 in 2014 to only 2 LETTERED fraternity houses left. The matter of the fact is the school hates greek life. It's undeniable, the Machi house was torn down to start the trend. Now this year Fijis 155 south chapel house (their best) is being torn down, as well as Pi Kapps Annabelle house. Rumored that they are tearing down the Kappa Sigma Mansion. But we will see.

Greek life here is kind of disappointing. All of the Greek organizations are very involved with philanthropy which is really nice, but socially it is not the best. Parties are honestly mediocre and take place in sweaty basements. They are definitely nothing like parties at schools with bigger greek life. If you are a girl and not involved in Greek life then you could still go out and have a good time, but if you are a guy not involved, good luck getting into parties, it probably won't work. A lot of people here think most of the fraternities are trashy and most girls who like to go out will go to the same frat every weekend once they find one that they like. Hazing varies a lot. Some bottom tier frats haze really bad, some don't really haze, and some top tier frats haze bad, some do not really haze. It's hard to say how to avoid hazing. Sororities seem to be more together, and they often have very impressive GPAs. They are much larger than fraternities here, so the experience can be less personable at times. There is a lot of different chapters, though, so if you want to become involved with Greek life, I am sure you can find your niche.

Greek life is awesome here but its nothing like Greek life in the south. Most frats/srats have multiple houses that are not letter houses and most parties are in basements. To be honest most parties seem just about the same with some being slightly different. The biggest difference to me is the people, not the party. Dages are awesome and make the social scene pretty unique. Hazing from what I've heard varies a lot. Most sororities do not haze, most frats have pretty minimal hazing. Some are a lot worse than others. It is not super difficult to get a bid from a frat/srat, unless you are going top tier. You do not have to be in Greek life at UD to have a good time, but it definitely would enhance your social life if you decide to join.
