is it typical that girls get dropped completely from recruitment? or will every girl be able to join?

While it is possible to be cut from all sororities during recruitment nearly everyone I know that started recruitment either chose to leave on their own or ended up in a sorority they were happy with. Don't worry, just let the process happen!
