What should freshman be doing for rush?

Specifically, what should freshman be doing to help their chances of getting a bid to fraternities? Have fraternities already been putting a list together of who they want to give bids to?

First bids are being decided rn, usually those kids are used to build a pledge class. Just go to events. Lambda and Pike will bid you if you have a pulse.

What does that mean, “first bids”? Do houses give bids out in stages? Or you mean they are trying to rank their top choices to see how many more people they can/will take in addition to that group to form a complete pledge class?

The frats give out unofficial bids throughout rush. At this stage most fraternities have given out atleast a few bids for the spring class if not more. Show up to events and meet brothers

Hard to show up at events when there is nothing in person except small and invite-only. Can’t go if not invited can’t get invited if they don’t know you, and on it goes. Chicken/egg.

never heard a truer statement in my life, for some of us freshman, we haven’t even had an opportunity to meet some people in various frats so we can’t even make an opinion on the ones we like. Like the other person said, hard to get invited to stuff if you don’t know people, hard to know people if you don’t get invited

rush this year is a joke better to wait until the dust settles on all the houses and see who is still left standing and plan for soph rush next fall. pledging this spring won't be normal experience and no spring break to go away with new brothers

You should still rush. If you want to join a frat it’s better to rush now than to wait a year. Worst comes to worst you don’t get into any of the ones you want and you can rush again next year

Yeah OGL has / had a signup sheet thing. Official rush events were limited to like ten people this fall. Wish y'all had it better, but hey hopefully you'll have three normal years at VU
