sophomore sorority rush

Not every house does COB in the Fall. Just the ones that maybe didn’t meet quota in the Spring. I’d say for certain houses it would definitely help to have friends in the house, but some houses focus more on rushing freshmen and don’t think about their incoming sophomores as much so they still have an open mind during rush.

I did not rush as a Freshman because I initially didn't believe that I wanted to be a part of Greek life. However, I am really glad that I was able to participate in formal recruitment instead of doing COB. I don't think being a sophomore is really an advantage or disadvantage. It was nice to see a familiar face in some of the houses, but realistically, I did not know anyone in probably half the houses. Rather, the house that I knew the most girls in was one that I dropped after Display. In the end, I ended up intentionally choosing a house that I knew less girls in because the whole point of rushing for me was to make some new friends. I think a lot more sophomore drop from the process because, generally, they are the ones who were unsure of going greek in the first place. However, I made a lot of friends going through the recruitment process and really think it is worth waiting until the spring.

I rushed as a sophomore and because I had friends in pretty much every house, I had a great time. It was rare that I was talking to a girl at a house that I didn’t already kinda know which made it a great opportunity to get to know those girls better, and overall the whole process was way less stressful because I knew I had friends pulling for me at all of my preferred houses.
