minorities
by: Vu2016As a minority, should I even consider rushing a sorority? From what I've seen they all look very white, and I'm not looking to be the token brown girl of the group but I do want to be involved in Greek life.

this is not true at all I’m not even theta but beyond being rude to the girls in that house this is way meaner to the girls who are minorities who read this and think they are less than and will be discriminated against during rush

the makeup of sororities at vandy is representative of the women who choose to rush, so while they may seem whitewashed, it is because it is mostly white women rushing. this won't be changed until more minorities choose to rush. i am a minority & i never felt like my race played a role in the recruitment process. as for tokenization, being on the other side of rush (and i can only speak for my own house), there was no talk of needing a certain girl because she would add diversity. it's the same as with looks, girls think it plays a huge role in the decisions made but really your personality is what is going to make or break you!

Sororities are competitive but nothing like the rest of the SEC (except for maybe Theta/Kappa/DDD).
