rushing as a soph for first time

There’s a lotttttt of sophomores rushing this year and only a certain # of spots available at each house. they’re each mandated to take a certain # of freshman and sophomores. Many sophomores are rushing to get into a specific house after dropping last year, so lots of top choices overlap. Plenty of houses cut sophomores yesterday that had lots of connections. I would say there is definitely a lot of competition and keep your mind open to other houses if you don’t get one of your top choices. :)

as an upperclassman, my favorite pnms to talk to are sophomores because for most people, it takes until sophomore year to realize how arbitrary and outdated rankings are. for actives in a lot of houses, it's exciting to have a conversation with someone who genuinely wants to go through the process rather than someone who's fixated on another house (spoiler alert by sophomore year we know you and we probably know where you want to end up). having an open mind and positive attitude will help you at the houses you like, and you'll have a better chance of ending up happy overall
