It is disappointing that a quality institution like Bucknell does not do more for more members to be able join the sororities and not leave some devastated and wanting to transfer out. Good talent and quality students can simply leave the institution when they should be more incentivized to stay. All they have to do is keep a full acceptance rate for a small institution like Bucknell. Keep the sophomores happy.

Very disappointing how the university has lost control of Greek life. They look the other way and ignore the atrocious behavior that is occurring right under their noses. Given that the school is in the middle of nowhere, they haven’t figured out how to “sell” Bucknell and have let Greek life sabotage it. We stopped contributing to the
University because of this. Send your kid elsewhere. You can easily do better for $70k/yr

As a woman in a sorority, I will say that greek life has changed my Bucknell experience. I had a tough freshman year and wanted to transfer. I lucked out during the recruitment process and now feel like I have found a community on this campus that can support me. It doesn't work out for everyone, but there are definitely benefits to the greek system.

I could not agree more with this post. An incredible voice of reason. Only wish the administration could do something about it. Let friendships develop organically, like they should. When you finish a great freshman year this is the most crushing thing that can happen. The university doesn’t discuss it all during the visits you make as a prospective student, or even once your admitted. If you ask a tour guide, they tell you it is all good & everyone is your friend. Unfortunately a number of students do transfer out because of this. NO ONE TELLS YOU THAT prior to enrolling. But the truth is that the strong survive. They absolutely earn a lot of respect & many friends.

Not to mention how it also can affect the family of the student!

Lol why the kappa hate? They run the school

OK, clearly this BS needs to be done and over. No one group is any better than the other. Why can't you just grow up and realize there are many students here that didn't get what they "think" they would have liked, or even got nothing at all. Can you not sympathize just a little. If the root of the greeks is to be philanthropic, why not start here. Otherwise, you clearly prove that you're in it for the wrong reason.

@bruuhhh Well I am happy for you it worked in your favor. Hopefully you are a nice person that doesn't pass judgment on those that didn't make it into a defined "group" and perhaps even look to invite others in.

Am I the only one that’s noticed how some of the girls that get dropped are prettier than the ones that don’t...

You are not the only one who has noticed. Dropping a girl who is pretty is a power trip for the small minded who don't want to be overshadowed.

If there are so many girls that dropped and were dropped that are hot and like to party why don't they all get together and take an open bid to the same sorority and make it one of the top sororities? Thats what happened a few years ago with AZD. Girls who were hot and liked to party decided to go for it and now they are one of the top sororities on campus. Instead of crying over it and looking to transfer join a lower tier as a group and the frats will be more than happy to party with them and they can laugh all the way to top tier.

Between this year & last year there are so many girls that dropped or were dropped. At the time that you drop, you kinda feel alone. What the Greek board needs to do is to help get us together, get us on the same page & help give life to a new sorority, such as DZ. But no one wants to do it alone. There are university faculty members that oversee the Greek life, why can’t they help?

The girls should get together and approach the faculty or maybe take it upon themselves to contact DZ. nobody should feel alone and I’m
Sure there could be a happy ending for all.

So foolish, the only reason why azd is a top soroity now is cuz pi phi took over while they were underground. This proves pi phi is the dopest sorority to ever exist on this campus.

agree school panhel should help and initiate a meeting as
people don’t know who else is gdi because all live in different dorms etc

I’m sure they have a list available

would DZ welcome them ?

By: sistersister
by: Yes

I'm sure they would welcome them. They want their sorority to succeed and if they had help from the panhel to gather girls interested it would be amazing for both the gdi and sorority. This sorority is new and can be amazing with girls who really want Greek life.
