Being an active and having been on the "other side" during rush, after you see hundreds of girls come into your house each day, it's actually BEYOND refreshing to see a girl not wearing what 99% of the other girls are wearing...it makes you stand out and trust me NOT in a bad way. Just because there's outfit recommendations in the PNM handbook does not mean you have to wear exactly that. You still need to look nice, but this is very possible without wearing name brands such as Lilly Pulitzer and Tori Burch (which in my opinion is beyond basic anyways). It's so nice seeing a girl walk in with her own style instead of looking like a clone. For example, when I went through rush two years ago, while every girl was wearing their Tori Burch sandals or chacos, I wore Converse with my shorts and rush shirt and I kid you not got at least one compliment from every house. Wear your style and PLEASE I beg you don't wear what everyone else is wearing just because they say so. If a house is going to judge you for essentially being basic and boring then you don't want to be in that house anyways. Having said that, if that's your style and kind of clothing you would normally wear, then by all means go for it. Wear what you feel confident in and BE CONFIDENT ABOUT IT. Be comfortable with not looking like everyone else.
