You don't HAVE to affiliate immediately. You might want to wait a semester. Let them know you're on campus, go visit and hang out, get to know the girls. If you like them, then affiliate. But if you affiliate and find out that you don't like them, your only recourse would be to 1)transfer to a different school, at least for a semester, 2)go early alum, although there are specific requirements and it's not that easy, or 3)resign from the Fraternity. If you hold off affiliating and find you don't get along, then you will still be a DG and have alumnae standing
