Honestly, I don't think this is a matter of CAN you rush, but SHOULD you rush. If you made below a 3.0 in high school, I'm afraid that college is going to be very difficult for you. There's no shame in this -- everyone has different skills. Not everyone can be academically inclined, and UA has a ton of resources to help those who struggle with school. But as I'm sure you've been told a million times, college classes (well, most of them, excluding easy A electives) are much, much harder than high school classes, even if you have a less demanding major. You need to prepare yourself to devoting a lot of time to your studies this year, and in your case I don't think you can afford losing any of that time to extracurricular commitments, ESPECIALLY to a sorority! Take this year to work on developing study skills that work better for you and adjusting to college life, and if you find that you're getting the hang of it, you can rush next year! I don't mean to scare/offend you, but I do think you need to be realistic and remember what the point of going to college is. Getting sisters is great, but getting a degree is better. Good luck!
