Subject:
tbh about formal rush process

Poster Message:
Hi everyone! So I formal rushed at UGA in 2015 & wanna share my experience; maybe it'll help some PNMs. Going through formal, I had for the most part an open mind. I went into UGA not knowing a single person. I didn't know about southern traditions or tiers or any of that. I knew 1 older girl who'd gone to UGA and was in a sorority there & she told me throughout the entire process to just keep an open mind. However, as I went through rush I heard about these tiers & rankings& so I asked my friend about it all & this time she said "unless you really click with them, I wouldn't go ___; they're known as being the bottom house. _____ isn't great either". I wasn't crazy about the first house she mentioned (the supposed bottom one), but the second one I was really enjoying. But you know what? I was enjoying it for the wrong reasons. The sorority I liked was calling back mostly pretty girls so I felt special being called back too. I liked them for their house, their recruitment video, etc. In fact, this same sorority is the one I accepted my bid to. & guys... I HATED it. Needless to say, I lasted about a month & a half in that sorority. I'm not one to walk out or give up so dropping was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Let me tell you, there's nothing more awkward than seeing those girls who I would've called my sisters on campus. Don't judge houses by their social calendar, looks, etc. b/c in the end you want a GENUINE SISTERHOOD. that's what a sorority is all about!!
