www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/38546639/sae-fraternity-suspended-at-university-of-arizona The University of Arizona has been notified by Sigma Alpha Epsilon headquarters that the charter of the fraternity's UA chapter has been suspended following an investigation into health and safety violations, resulting in immediate closure of the chapter. The UA Dean of Students Office has issued a Loss of Recognition letter in tandem with the decision. Sigma Alpha Epsilon also notified its UA members and alumni this week that the headquarters has closed the chapter and disbanded the undergraduate membership. "We have tremendous respect for a fraternal organization that holds its members accountable for their actions," said Kendal Washington White, UA dean of students, in a recent release. "Sigma Alpha Epsilon informed us of the reasons for taking such serious action and we fully support that decision." The headquarters office and the UA are working toward an agreement that will allow the fraternity to apply for reinstatement in the future, as long as no current members are affiliated with the new chapter. The UA maintains an online listing of Greek organizations under judicial review to help students and families evaluate fraternities and sororities. It can be found at judicial page and it is updated each semester.
