Yah, a 2.9 is pretty bad for college. The all-women's average is 3.15 and the all-sorority average GPA is 3.26. As someone with a 2.9 and a sophomore you are a pretty big risk. Unless you are killing it, like doing really really great in appearance, personality, extracurricular, connections, legacy, etc. it will be a serious uphill battle for you during recruitment... and even then your best chances might be a sorority like Theta or ADPi, mayyyybe Sigma. Probably not the top houses though. Good luck.
